Gainsborough House isn’t just another office building — it’s a symbol of resilience, risk, and relentless ambition. Its story starts thousands of miles from Manchester, in a country where even running water was a luxury. That’s where Bijan Todd’s journey began.
School wasn’t his path, but enterprise was. As a child, Bijan hustled — buying, selling, trading — with an eye always on something bigger. At 19, with barely a word of English, he arrived in Manchester. He pumped petrol, packed clothes, and eventually managed a nightclub that once hosted the Rolling Stones. But his dream was always his own business.
One day, during a lunch break, he met a woman with unforgettable dimples. They launched a fashion shop together in Cheadle — Bijan installed the carpet and lighting himself, naming it BT Dimples. But the partnership ended in betrayal. Left with an empty store and broken trust, Bijan could have walked away. Instead, he rebuilt — founding a wholesale salon supply business that marked his first real success.
From there, he moved into property, securing his first building in Didsbury through grit and determination. Over the years, he transformed neglected spaces across Manchester and Bolton, each one a brick-and-mortar chapter in his journey. Then came Gainsborough House — a crumbling warehouse turned thriving office hub, thanks to Bijan’s vision.
Today, his sons James and Michael carry that legacy forward through Method Spaces — dynamic, design-led workspaces that empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. More than offices, they’re launchpads for ambition, shaped by the same spirit that brought a teenage dreamer across continents and turned struggle into success.
